TRIPALIUM WEBZINE

I always wonder why some bands that seem to have come from nowhere get signed while other who has a lot of potential remain in the back burner. I asked because band like Trephination ought to get signed soon.
Their ultra heavy mid-paced skull crushing death metal must be heard by the masses more than anybody else. Song structures may be simple and falls more into the early Florida style but the way they delivered the three tracks in this pro-printed promo was so amazingly heavy. This could destroy countless of other bands in the scene if only they'd be given a chance to spread out their music.
The vocal delivery of Michael Machete, I think, is the main driving force of the band. It's insane and almost out of bounds of the normal growling and screaming. The guitar solos are just as good, something I'd never expected because the guitars of the songs are simply structured.
This promo is a bit old already and I hope that they will be able to come u with fresh materials soon.

CENTRA EXTREME WEBZINE

Trephination was formed around 1996 in Philadelpia, they're played oldschool death metal to create some interesting of extreme music! before they release this CD, their previous effort has been unleashed in "Gore Is Your Master Compilation" released worldwide in 1999 by Razorback Records (US). This CD it contain 3 materials, It was released in June 2000 with song title "Cloned Reoccurences", "Threading The Twine" also "Citadel". When you heard all of this material you'll find some Sepultura, Slayer, Obituary even Death vein! and the vocal style really near into Glen Benton Of Deicide, they're currently writing for new material for 6 songs EP driven by impressions of lunacy upon all who bear witness! not too original in musical style but they're tried to showing their ability to played oldschool death metal as well as their first pioneer!!!

TRANSCENDING THE MUNDANE

Philadelphia's Trephination are a death metal band who cite Obituary, Death, Sepultura, and Slayer as influences. With War Come Atrocities is a three song demo they originally released in 2000. The first thing that stands out is the emphatic vocals of M. Machette. Picture a much less annoying but just as nuanced version of Obituary's John Tardy and you're close to his league. Musically, Trephination are rooted in old school death metal with a touch of doom (Incanatation, Cancer, Obituary, etc). The band is in the process of recording a new six song e.p. to be released later this fall. A decent initiation, with some more seasoning and a better production and Trephination will be a band to watch.

UROTSUKIDOJI'S PAD

Now this is the shit!! No one is making old school Death metal like this any more, at least that's what I thought until I got a hold of Trephination's 3 song EP. Trephination doesn't spend the whole disc trying to play faster than everyone else, but they can bring the speed when it's needed. This is more about thick ghoulish grooves, that build and build until they overflow in thundering unholy crescendos. The main influence here is Obituary, from the musical arrangements, to the John Tardy inspired vocals delivered by Mike Machette. I can't believe these guys have been around since '96 and this is my first taste. I mean these guys should be on Relapse or Necropolis, and playing festivals. I knew someone had to be keepin' this stuff alive. If you are a Death metal fan, then YOU NEED THIS. For more info, check 'em out at www.trephination.us
RATING = 8.5 Death Metal (Released 2000)

What you can find here is well-elaborated death metal,
no complexity, no experiments, just fucking Death
metal! The disc has 3 tracks, these are the following:
"Cloned Reoccurrences", "Threading the Twine" and
"Citadel", from which we think the second and third
show themselves more powerful, though that doesn't
mean that the first one isn't good. The musical
structure this disc presents is as hard as the sound
these guys has achieved to get. M. Machette's growls
are killer, perfect for this kind of infernal music.
We are sure that in their next work, Trephination will
bring us a full length CD with songs even more intense
and complex. Well, if you're looking for pure and new
fucking death metal with some old school's touches.
then this album is a good choice as this band is in
charge of giving you precisely all that!

BLOODCIFERY WEBZINE

TREPHINATION " WITH WAR COME ATROCITIES
AUTOEDITADO

Trephination=Trepanacion..

TREPHINATION
With War Come Atrocities
Fleshfold Productions

The quintet of Michael Machette (vocals), Tim Di Angelo (guitars), Mike
Gerold (guitars), Stephen Smith (bass) and Craig Truesdale (drums) hails
from Philadelphia. "Cloned Reoccurrences", "Threading The Twine" and
"Citadel" are the tracks featured in this release. The songs are mid
paced bludgeoning and armed with pile driving guitar parts and vicious
vocals that make Michael Machette sound like he's suffering from a
severe case of schizophrenia. The songs are well structured that show
that this band's got potential. Mike Gerold's style of playing is not
complex but the way he executes those solos is just brutal it sets the
mood of the songs to a very deathly feel. The only thing that irritates
me is when "Threading The Twine" hits 01:48 it makes me want to smash
someone in the face with a hammer. Get it? Yes. Good.

HIMNOS RITUALES ZINE

TREPHINATION
“With war come atrocities”
(Selfproduced)

SATAN STOLE MY TEDDYBEAR

With War Comes Atrocities 2000 Fleshfold Productions

Relying on a brief three song EP, Philadelphia's Trephination does use their brief time accordingly to get their sound across. As all three tracks demonstrate, Trephination is a death metal band with some older thrash tendencies with a vocalist who has a wetter grunt and rasp than a lot of gutteral bands. That said, Trephination is one of those bands who has some promise but much of it does not gel here. All three songs lack complete song cohesion, as the transition within songs from riffs and rhythm patterns is often too abrupt and jumps too much within the song, rather than sliding. Due to that problem, the three songs do not particularly flow very well. This is a shame because as "Citadel" shows, the band has some great ideas with some fine work from the two guitarists. The reliance of blast beats within the arrangements is often just tired and overdone, rather than injecting any sort of freshness to the songs. Nevertheless, with some emphasis on elevating their songwriting from just brutality and death metal standard material, Trephination could easily become a very interesting band as all of the members show quite a bit of talent. Now it's just a matter of gelling.

BEN FROM "FORGOTTEN SOURCE"-SORRY!

Trephination-With War Comes Atrocities MCD (band release 2000) 11.22 US death metal at it's finest, is the description that fits Trephination's "With War Comes Atrocities" MCD best. Three songs in the Malevolent Creation vein is what you will find on this album and all are killer songs although "Citadel" is my favourite song because of the great riff. So you know what to expect: pounding death metal, mostly played midtempo with some faster parts. The lyrics are worth mentioning specifically; they read like poems and they describe the feelings of a person being hung and a war criminal and also Operation Citadel (WW II) very well. I really hope to hear much more from this great band.
